Course Information

Who Is This For?
Those who have completed one or two years of French. Join level 2 if you are comfortable encountering situations such as ordering food in a cafe, booking a hotel etc using simple language.
What Will I Learn?
Conversational development in the language.
Content of the Course
Build on your basic knowledge of the language, learn some new structures and develop your conversational skills as well as learning to get by in more challenging practical situations.
Assessment Details
You will be assessed as part of the course and be able to obtain an ABC Award in French at the end of the course.
Teaching Methods
You will learn in whole group, pair and individual activities.

Higher language courses. For example GCSE French.

Financial Information

If you are studying an accredited course at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 you may be eligible for a concessionary rate.

  • If you are unemployed and claiming Job Seekers Allowance/Employment Support Allowance or Universal Credit.
  • Unemployed and in receipt of a means tested benefit and wish to upskill to enter employment. (You will need to complete a self-declaration form).
  • Employed but seeking employment.
  • If you are employed but earn less than £15736.50.
  • It is your first level 2 or Level 3 qualification and you are aged 19-23.

You must enrol in person at the college and bring evidence of benefit; proof of age (passport/driving licence) or pay slips with you. This must be dated within three months of the course start date. Please contact the Registry on 01273 546604 for further information.

If you are in receipt of a means tested benefit or on a low income you may apply to the Learning Support Fund for help with travel, childcare costs and some tuition fees.

You will be required to complete a learner support application form and provide evidence of benefit or income support your application. Please contact the Adult Education Office on 01273 546602 for further information.

If your course costs more than £200 you may apply to pay in three instalments.

You must complete and sign an instalment form. The first payment will be taken on application, followed by a further payment at the start of the course and a final payment 2 months later. Please note that a handling charge of 10% of the course fee (up to a maximum of £30) is added to all instalment payments. You will still be liable for the full cost of the course if you leave the course prior to all instalments being paid. Please contact the Registry Department on 01273 546604 for further information.

No refunds are given once a course has started. If a course is cancelled by the college you will receive a full refund of all fees paid. If you decide to cancel your enrolment before the class starts your payment will be refunded less a 20% administration charge (up to a maximum of £50). If you decide to cancel your enrolment for a Saturday workshop less than 72 hours before the class your payment will be refunded less an 80% administration charge.
