First year A level 3D design students worked for 9 weeks on developing ideas and producing a scale model for a piece of furniture that had to be fabricated from a flat sheet and constructed using non-permanent joining methods i.e. no glue/nails.
They started by exploring methods of joining flat surfaces together and then researched innovative joints to get inspiration, having looked in to contemporary furniture design they developed their own ideas through modelling and drawing. Once a design had been finalised they drew it up using ‘Corel’ and laser cut the final piece from 3mm ply. All of the final designs are capable of being taken apart, flat packed and reassembled
