Ex-Varndean College Student to be Sky TV’s “Portrait Artist of the Year”?

miloMilo Hartnoll, an ex-Varndean College student who has just finished his degree in Illustration at the  University of Brighton, has made it to the last 10 of Sky Arts TV’s national competition to find their “Portrait Artist of the Year”. The series will be presented in the autumn by Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner and Milo took part in the filming of one of the 4 heats in London’s Trafalgar Square last Sunday.

The winner from each heat will take part in two further portrait challenges including a portrait of a public figure or famous person. Work by the finalists will then be displayed at the National Portrait Gallery and the overall winner will be awarded a £10,000 commission to produce a portrait of double Booker and Costa Award-winning author Hilary Mantel.
