AThe Student Union is both the voice of students and the bond between senior management and governors and the student body. We bring any concerns or ideas for changes directly to college managers so we urge all students to engage with the Student Union, bringing us their thoughts and suggestions, or even just to come for a chat. The student voice is important to college life and we’ve had a number of successes this year:
Student opinion was sought on the new timetable. The timetable was redesigned based on student suggestions and our active involvement with college managers.
We successfully campaigned to improve student social space.
We strongly promoted equality by helping establish a Feminist Society and a Gay/Straight Alliance.
All students are directly part of the Student union and we encourage everyone to participate in the student elections, not only to gain a position on the Student Union executive, but also because participating in the campaigns is great fun!
If you think the college is not fulfilling its potential, the food needs improving, if you feel transport issues need to be addressed or if you simply need someone to talk to about your college experience, then just come along to a Student Union meeting or contact us via Facebook or email.
All students can purchase an NUS card which gives discounts in many high street shops and online. The Student Union receives an income from these card sales which is then invested back into student life.
