Varndean College sees WellBEing as central to your son or daughter’s success at College. We have a team of well qualified professionals who work together to offer particular expertise in this area. We work closely with Additional Support.
Sheila Sword is Health and Wellbeing coordinator at Varndean College. She coordinates the WellBEing Zone situated in Additional Support in 14.2 . The emphasis is on 'Keeping Well at College'. She runs a weekly WellBeing Enrichment and can offer students strategies to build resilience and alleviate anxiety. The WellBeing Zone also offers information about other support services both inside and outside of college.
Matilda Wileman is a Health and WellBeing assistant in the Wellbeing Zone.
James Stockman is a Health and wellbeing assistant in the Wellbeing Zone
Melanie Keast is a Health and Wellbeing assistant in the WellBeing Zone
Christine Haylett manages the Supported Study area of Additional Support 14.2. the emphasis is on supporting the students to develop Study skills to improve their learning outcomes.
Helen Chong is the Mentoring Co-ordinator at Varndean College. She recruits and trains the Student Mentor team offering one to one mentoring to students who need some informal support at any time during the college year, and she co-ordinates support from university mentors.
Daniela Sramova is Varndean College's Welfare Adviser. She provides a supportive information service to students helping them sort out problems with finance, accommodation, travel and any other practical difficulties that could interfere with their study.
Donna-Marie Janson is the designated member of staff responsible for Safeguarding and she also works with our Additional Support and Wellbeing Team to support students during difficult transition times at College, so that they can study in a safe and supportive environment in which they are able to grow in confidence and achieve success.
