What is the course about?
This qualification is the natural progression for students who have successfully completed the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling or its equivalent and want to take the next step in training to become a counsellor. It is also useful for people seeking a career change and who wish to attain accredited counsellor status in the future. Candidates should either have undertaken counselling skills training e.g. CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent units/qualifications of at least 75 hours, (e.g NCFE counselling qualifications 1 and 2). You will develop practical counselling skills for use at work or in a personal capacity whilst at the same time giving the opportunity to examine a number of theoretical counselling theories and models. The Level 3 course has increased from 90 to 150 hours for the academic year 2025/26 to meet the new CPCAB framework. The additional 60 hours will be spent on employability to support career pathways. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan on Level 3 and 4 courses.
