Careers / Measuring Success

The Careers Team understands the importance of ensuring all stakeholders are able to provide feedback on the services, events and activities we run and promote both in and outside the college. We review feedback to ensure what we do is relevant and remains impactful for all our stakeholders whether they are students, parents/carers, education partners, employers or staff.

  • Careers Programme – reviewed annually in July. Adapted in keeping with legislative changes and feedback received from all stakeholders.
  • Careers Survey – spring term annually – students provide feedback on the Careers Programme via the survey page on their ‘My Varndean’. Encouraged to complete during tutorials. Responses are carefully reviewed to make sure student needs are met and to ensure the Careers Programme and the services the Careers Team offer are relevant, timely and impactful.
  • Curriculum/Careers Spotlight Activities – students are asked for feedback at the end of each activity they attend. They complete a ‘hard’ copy questionnaire – each activity uses the same feedback sheet to ensure consistency. Feedback is used to inform future talks and events. Visiting speakers are also invited to provide feedback.
  • Apprenticeship Fair – Students complete a ‘hard copy’ questionnaire as they leave the hall. Helps Careers Team source Training Providers and Employers students are most interested in meeting.
  • HE Parents Evening – Parents are given the opportunity to provide feedback at the end of the evening both on the main and satellite talks.
  • University Information Day at University of Sussex – All Year 12 students and tutors who attend the event are asked for feedback.
  • Twilight Tour for WP Parents/Carers at Uni of Sussex – Parents are asked for Feedback – this is fed back to the university to ensure the event covers the topics parents want to know about.
  • Personal Statement Writing Day – All Year 12 students and visiting universities (12 in 2022) are invited to provide feedback.
  • HE Talks (Studying in Scotland etc) – Students invited to leave ‘just one sentence’ of feedback by email
  • Destinations – We attempt to collect 100% of student destinations
