Childcare and Education Diploma students yet again achieve outstanding results

Varndean College’s students undertaking the two year NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education have once again achieved an outstanding set of results; some with offers to continue their studies on higher education degree courses and some already receiving direct offers of employment within the childcare and education sector.

The fourteen students who recently completed course achieved an impressive 100% pass rate, with 50% achieving an A*- A grade and 50% achieving B-C.

Two students, Samiya Ali and Serine Toumi have secured places at Greenwich University to follow Childhood and Youth Studies; with a third, Ali Rabina, also going to Greenwich University to study Criminology & Criminal Justice. Laila Elhadaoui will study Early Childhood Studies at the University of East London and Danielle Moss will study Children’s Nursing at Edge Hill University, Lancashire.

Ella Collins and Kaitlin Holford have offers of employment in the childcare and education sector. Ella as a teaching assistant at Downs View School and Kaitlin who is now employed in looking after children ages 14 months upwards at a children’s holiday club out in Greece.

This follows on from last year’s success when three Childcare and Education Diploma students took up places at Brighton University to follows degrees in Teacher Training and two students (one male and one female) acquired places at the prestigious Norland College in Bath to become ‘Norland Nannies’ - following in the footsteps of a previous Varndean student who has just completed her final year and about to graduate as a ‘Norland Nanny’.

The NCFE CACHE Diploma is a two year vocational course, equivalent to 3 A Levels, in which the students undertake a series of coursework units on Health and Wellbeing; Legislation and Professional Practice; Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness, and Professional Development. They also have to complete 750 hours of work placement, as well as an extended 5000-word essay under controlled exam conditions.
