Varndean Student’s Short Film Shortlisted for Into Film Awards

Varndean College student, Phoebe Young, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Into Film Awards with her powerful short film, ‘Headphones’. Among 21 nominees across seven filmmaking categories, the Into Film Awards recognises and celebrates exceptional talent in filmmaking across the UK. Phoebe’s film competes in the Time for Action category, sponsored by Swatch, which challenges young filmmakers to raise awareness of important issues and envision the changes they wish to see in the world, whether big or small; personal or society wide. Headphones is a poignant short film that explores an immersive journey of a young autistic girl navigating a seemingly ordinary day. We are invited to experience the bustling corridors and classrooms through the heightened auditory lens of our protagonist as she grapples with the sensory overload that everyday life presents her. Phoebe’s lived experience infuses every frame with emotion, her own experiences woven seamlessly into the narrative.
