Three of Varndean College’s Year 2 Textiles students recently made it to the final of the London 2023 Stitch Festival.
The Stitch Festival takes place at the Business Design Centre in London each year. This year, three of our Year 2 students were invited to attend the show as finalists in the festival’s annual Dressmaking competition. Our students were shortlisted in three separate categories; Gabe Dodd – Menswear, Nicole Field – Upcycled/Repurposed, and Molly Aberdour – Knitwear/Crochet.
This was a huge achievement for them and staff and students all had a brilliant day. Students were able to showcase their work on the runway and had the opportunity to meet some of the stars of the festival including David Morrish from Kingfly Embroidery (as seen on TV Make it at Market BBC1), crochet queen Katie Jones, Josie Hawes from Fabric Godmother and Clive Bruder from We Sew Too.
Well done everyone.
