Varndean Film Production Students Interview Top TV Director

In February Varndean College Film Production students Max Bell and Ben Hernandez had an incredible opportunity to film an episode of their podcast, TimeRotorTalks, with acclaimed director Emma Sullivan.

Emma is an experienced director of film and TV, working across thriller, fantasy, drama, and comedy. Most recently, she helmed the massive Netflix series, ONE PIECE, based on the incredibly popular Japanese manga. She has also directed episodes of Doctor Who and Silent Witness, making her an inspiring guest for our aspiring filmmakers.

For Doctor Who, Emma directed episodes ‘Can You Hear Me?’ and ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’. During the podcast, she shared her experiences of directing, breaking barriers in the industry, filmmaking techniques, and the unique differences between UK and US television as well as short film production.

With 2.87K subscribers, Max and Ben’s Doctor Who podcast is growing from strength to strength, and this episode promises to be a must-watch for fans and aspiring filmmakers alike.

A huge thank you to Emma for sharing her expertise and inspiring our students! Stay tuned for the episode release!
