Sociology GCSE
Sociology is the study of human society; it draws on a variety of viewpoints in order to understand the social world around us. In this course you will learn about how society shapes people’s ideas and behaviour and you will relate this to your own experience of living in British society. You will also study how societies change over time and how societies differ across cultures. This course will help you to think critically about the world and explore different perspectives on society by drawing on sociological theories and research evidence.
You will study the following areas in detail: Family, Education, Crime & Deviance, Social Stratification and Research Methods.

What are the Standard Entry Requirements?
| Course | General GCSE Grade minimum entry requirements |

| IB Diploma or 4 A levels | A mixture of at least 7 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 6 including English, Maths and Science. |
| 3 A Levels | A mixture of at least 6 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 4 including English. |
| A mixed programme at Level 3, to include at least one vocational course | A mixture of at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 4 including English. |
| Foundation Level (Level 2) | At least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3, including English. At least one GCSE should be at Grade 4 or above. |
| Any student who has not achieved a grade 4 or C in GCSE English and/or Maths must include further study of these subjects in their programme. | |
