Friday 26 January saw the official opening of a much-needed new Science lab in Varndean College’s Hutchins Wing.
Four Varndean College Chemistry students recently went with their tutor John Luton to a Surface Engineering Conference in Grantham, organised by the Institute of Mines, Materials and MInerals (IOM3). The event consisted of various talks conducted by leading researchers and other individuals closely involved with the field on the application and research of different aspects of surface engineering.
Varndean A Level Chemistry students had a brilliant day out last week, superbly organised and run by Southern Water. Sally Lambert, Paul Clark and Ritchie took the students and tutors around the Peacehaven Waste Water Treatment Plant and explained the complex treatment of how our waste water is treated and disposed of.

Varndean A Level Chemistry students attended the Brighton & Sussex Medical School last week to listen to a talk on infectious diseases by Professor Martin J Llewelyn and social scientist Michael Hopkins.
