This is a practical and creative one-year course studying the work of artists as well as making your own art. This course will develop your practical skills, your critical knowledge and make you a more confident artist. You will explore different themes and a variety of materials and processes (drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture and textiles). You are assessed on your ability to develop ideas, experiment with practical materials, record ideas and present successful outcomes.
There is a practical coursework unit and a practical examination. Most materials you need will be provided in the studio but there is a charge for these and you will need to buy sketchbooks (available in the College shop). Students need to be committed to spending time on art, as there will be weekly independent study tasks. Students who do well can progress to A Level Art, Textiles, 3D Design, Graphic Design or Photography.
Grade 3 in GCSE Art, Graphics or Textiles (if studied) or provide a portfolio of your art/design/photography work at interview
