Interested in a career in the Uniformed Protective Services? Study a range of organisations e.g. Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, Army, Navy and others you may not have thought about. The course focuses on learning a wide range of skills important for Protective Service work including communication, teamwork, discipline and problem solving.

One unit is assessed in an examination. The other three are coursework using a range of reports, presentations, practical tasks and role plays.

The course combines a theory element with active practical situations to give you experience and an insight into the work of the uniformed services with visits to and speakers from different organisations.

This course will enable you to market yourself well to employers if you are looking to go straight into employment or to continue your education onto a Level 3 Protective Services course.

Some of the units you may study include:
  • Role and Work of Public Services
  • Working Skills
  • Employment in the Uniformed Public Services
  • Health, Fitness and Lifestyle in the Public Services

I chose this subject because it seemed interesting and relevant to my future career aspirations. I have particularly enjoyed the team bonding and learning leadership skills. This has brought the class together making it feel like a family, whilst at the same time learning.
