We are seeking a dynamic individual with digital marketing and graphic design skills, and a passion for marketing and communications, to support the Marketing Manager within the busy marketing office at Varndean College.

Along with the implementation of a wide range of marketing activities; including the design of College marketing materials, digital marketing, promotional photography/filming, co-ordination of events, the successful applicant will also be responsible for assisting with the College’s ever-growing online social media presence.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, professional and comfortable communicating with prospective students and parents, as well as members of College staff at all levels. Experience of working in an educational setting would be a bonus; but more importantly, creativity, flexibility, the ability to work to strict deadlines and the desire to achieve successful outcomes.

Successful candidates must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and also be a car driver.

Salary: Band 3 of SFCA Support Staff Salary Scales – currently starting at £19,927 per annum

An experienced administrator to oversee the administration of Adult Education, including enrolments and course enquiries. This post also includes dedicated support for the ESOL provision and requires exceptional organisational and communication skills, and a high degree of IT literacy.

The successful applicant will an experienced administrator with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines as well as having excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a range of people.

Experience of working in ‘customer care’, preferably in a student centre academic environment is desirable.

To support students during their exams, and to ensure the smooth running of all external examinations.

You will be paid at an hourly rate of £9 per hour for general invigilation or £9.54 per hour for reading or scribing.


  • To provide exam invigilation for both paper-based and on-line examinations.
  • To work with the Exams Department to resolve any student or IT issues during the exam.
  • To assist with setting up exam venues by distributing exam stationery and papers in accordance with the Joint Council guidelines.
  • To ensure silence is maintained throughout the duration of the examinations.
  • To check attendance during examinations and record on the relevant document.
  • Collect exam scripts at the end of the examination and return to the Exams Department.
  • To read and scribe for students during their external examinations when required.
  • To attend any training relevant to reading and scribing where available.
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
  • Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
